The people behind finBalance
Our Story
finBalance GmbH was founded in Berlin in 2026 by Ingo Brenckmann and Mathias Pöhling. The two met at SAP, co-authored The SAP HANA Project Guide in 2009, and have worked together ever since — across SAP, Porsche Digital, and AWS — accumulating 20 years of experience building enterprise software where documents drive value.
The founding idea is clear: AI agents that truly understand and act on your business documents. Not just reading text, but grasping what it means — what, who, when, and why — and turning that understanding into action. Documents are the universal integration layer already in place in every organization. finBalance exists to finally make them work for you.
Why We Do This
The industry has spent decades promising a Single Version of the Truth — a universal data model that would finally bring clarity and control. It does not work. It has never worked, and it never will.
There is no universal truth. Truth is context-dependent. Universal data is fiction — not insight. Real differentiation lives in your information. And your information is buried in your documents.

Mathias Pöhling
Co-Founder & Managing Director
Global Business Development for SAP HANA and Product Management for SAP S/4HANA Controlling at SAP. As Principal Strategic Account Manager at AWS, bridged the SAP/AWS technology stacks and corporate cultures on strategic deals. Co-author, The SAP HANA Project Guide (2009).
